How Donations Contribute to Seymour's Mission
The Seymour hatchery is a non-profit society, our operational budget is funded by Metro Vancouver and Fisheries and Oceans Canada. This budget is used to employ three full-time staff and one seasonal staff, it also funds all the enhancement and hatchery maintenance. All other programs, such as the education and habitat programs, are funded by direct donations.
Each year, 1,200 – 1,500 kids from grades 2 to 6 take part in a full day, hands on field trip. See Gently Down the Seymour page for more details. $50 enables 2 children to participate on an all-day field trip and learn how to protect the habitat fish depend on.
With donated funds we continue to have a far reaching, positive impact on our community through engagement, education and watershed projects.
