We are halfway through spawning our coho broodstock for the season. Around 40 more pairs to go. The females get checked weekly and those that are ripe (ready) are spawned. To try to maintain genetic diversity, wild fish are used whenever possible and the milt from two males are used for each female’s eggs.

On June 5th and 6th, 2017 the Seymour Hatchery with help from DFO, released 44,000 coho smolts into the lower Seymour River. Watch the video of the coho leaving the truck and entering the river.
